Andy Leatherbarrow

In 1992 I was awarded a City & Guilds in Carpentry and Joinery from Reading College of Technology.  My first position as a carpenter was for a shop fitting company that specialised in building recording studios in Central London.

After a few years I decided to expand my expertise, and worked for a number of years as a carpenter for a small house building firm.  I was then provided with the opportunity to go travelling, during which time I made the decision to relocate to Cornwall upon returning to the UK in 1998.

Following several years working in Cornwall as a sub-contract carpenter on various projects including timber frame erection, I was offered a contract to supply and erect a small development of timber frame homes. Together with a colleague we formed ‘Timberbuild (South West) Ltd’ in 2002.  As Joint Directors we ran a successful business for 8 years.

In 2010 my business partner and I decided to dissolve the company as he wanted to follow a new career path.  Since then I have been running Timberbuild as a sole trader continuing with timber frame construction as well as various other carpentry projects (see Project Gallery for more info).
